Walking to School a Part of my Day

It has been pretty ugly weather – the wind blew, the rain came down sideways in sheets, and my wife and I got suited up, donning out waterproof rain pants, coat and boots to embark on the 40 minute walk to school.

I try to make walking part of my daily regime. We tend to walk through the many trails rather than along roads, crossing the bridge where we can often see eagles perched on treetops or on the riverbed at low tide.

As it is International Walk to School Day, I would like to encourage others to begin walking regularly. It can make big changes in your energy and outlook, and give you a chance to enjoy the slower pace, too.

Besides, most days are not terrible..for example, this photos was taken while on a walk along the water in Prince Rupert.
